E-word,

Someone asked me how I was doing lately, and I wrote it down in an email. I am copying that emails (with additions) below.

***

Working too much. This year has been unrelenting. The house is very good, though, but I’m getting a little nervous about spring- mulch will be coming out of my pores. I also have to buy a lawnmower and other sundry house-type things.

Leaky sunroom roof ($$$$$). But overall I’d have to say things are good. El has been very understanding of the hours I’ve been working lately, and I haven’t worked on weekends, which is very nice.

Thinking about buying a pressure washer.

I'm finally making some time to read, too. '2666' by Roberto Bolaño. There are so many books out there. This fantastic link of literary drunks and addicts reminds me that there is still so much to read. I've never read John Cheevers, Brendan Behan, or Flann O'Brien.

You scumbag you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot

Dear E-word,

'Fairytale of New York' is a great song.

I got something, but I got nothing.

This is very sweet. Could my family ever do this? Honestly, I think not.

Paris in the Winter

Toe,
Paris sounds awesome. I have never been. I imagine you have a lot of fun memories of that place.

I would also like a short European vacation. Latest National Geographic has these fucking awesome pictures of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. I so want to go.

We're getting a nice snowstorm. I'm still not sick of the snow.

Lisztomania

E-word,

This will be a short post. I just really want to say that I desperately want to leave the country for a couple of days. A short European vacation would just about hit the spot right now. I'm thinking Paris. A street crepe might bring me back to life.

Love,

Toe

Vegan Nachos

Toe,
It has been a while since I thought of Food for Thought, and yes, I do remember that postcard, and even recall that time we had lunch there. If I am not mistaken, it involved beer and reading the City Paper, and perhaps even Vegan Nachos, the premier appetizer of Food for Thought.

Remember the sadness we felt walking down Connecticut a few years ago and seeing that they had changed it into some fancy French bistro? Oh, man, I miss those stinky hippies in FfT.

I am at the end of my week off-work here, and I did not post as much as I wanted. I did, however, have a fucking lazy-ass week, which was really awesome. I've started back with more activity, though--not quite work-related, but I did replace the doorknob on my office. It fell off months ago, and I have put off fixing it. To enter my office, I had to open the door by turning a metal shaft sticking out where the knob had been. Not really difficult to do, but still, not as comfortable to the hand as a doorknob. Now, with a shiny new knob installed, I have entered my office to post on our blog. I feel productive again, and perhaps ready to do some paid work tomorrow.

It was good talking with you the other night. We have to do that more often, perhaps with alcohol in hand.

I wish you and El a great new year. Sorry the visiting family were such bitches.

And good luck with the cursing.
Love,
E-Word
